Every two seconds, the shared files looked at (their size and time, the notes and papers folders left out): one changed since, by whatever wrote it, wants an exchange after a pause. Not while an exchange runs (what it writes is taken in after it, exchange_now); on a phone, only while Sioul is on its screen: in the background, what writes exchanges itself (exchange_here).
